with Nancy Gloutnez_ choreograph and stepdancer
En attendant le pick-up is a choreographic and sound co-creation with quebecois step-dancing artist Nancy Gloutnez.
This piece proposes the meeting between two universes of sound bodies. Linked by this expressive motor, they explore through rhythm what lifts them, transports them and leaves them there, on the lookout, awaiting the pick-up. It is also the meeting of two crossed paths of life: drafts of mother-artists perched on four feet which mark time, fill it and listen to it. Textures, ornaments and silence, suspended.
Hybrids in our respective work, we find ourselves in concert in the expressive exploration of the sound body. Accustomed to crossings between disciplines in our respective practices, we wade in this space "between". This collaboration takes shape in the search for common denominators, more specifically in listening and waiting: we explore, through rhythm, what raises us, transports us, suspends us and leaves us there, on the lookout. Nourished by jitter and flamenco, we are interested in the rhythmic dialogue that is woven between two bodies by sounds, gestures and silences, by observing the impact of rhythm in the body.
Two women on stage juggling, sometimes in precarious balance, with all the roles they are trying to play: artists, lovers, researchers, single mothers, friends, they try to stay as close as possible to the center of this whirlwind in order to feel where should their next step be. A time of shared listening, between us and with the spectator, in this fragile, strong and complex humanity.
En attendant le pick-up was presented at the National Monument by Tangente, from December 10 to 13, 2015.
